Excitement fills the air as students embark on a new academic journey during the first week of classes at the University of Illinois Chicago.

UIC and Chancellor Marie Lynn Miranda welcomed more than 6,400 new first-year and transfer students to campus during the 2024 UIC Convocation on Aug. 28 at Harrison Field.  

The students also began a new campus tradition to showcase UIC pride. Wearing red shirts and caps, they formed the university’s largest logo for an overhead photo.
