Black Excellence: Andrea Evans
UIC alum says we have to ‘unbecome’ some things in order to become who we’re supposed to be.
In February 2022, “28 Days of Black Excellence” launched to celebrate Black History Month at UIC. Each day brought a powerful new episode featuring inspiring stories from students, faculty, staff, and community members.
The impact wasn’t limited to those 28 days. The podcast resonated with the campus community and was recently listed as No. 1 of “10 Best Illinois Black Podcasts” on FeedSpot. Fueled by this enthusiastic response, “Black Excellence” continues, with a mission to inform, inspire and engage audiences.
The podcast is hosted by Aisha El-Amin, executive associate vice provost for student success and belonging at UIC, who leads conversations with luminaries, visionaries and waymakers about their journeys and what it means to give back to the university and community while creating impact in Chicago and beyond.
