Harrison, Halsted streets closed over weekend for construction

Beginning July 24 through Aug. 5, vehicle and CTA travel around Harrison and Halsted streets will be affected by construction on the Byrne Interchange, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Harrison Street will be closed in both directions between Morgan and Halsted streets from July 25 to Aug. 5. UIC and CTA buses will be rerouted. Parking Lot 9 will remain open, with access from Morgan via Van Buren Street.

The Halsted Street Bridge and CTA station will be closed for construction over the weekend, beginning sometime July 24. Halsted Street will be closed until Saturday morning in both directions north and south of the bridge. The Halsted CTA station will be closed all weekend, reopening July 27.

When the Halsted Street Bridge reopens, traffic lanes will be located on the newly constructed east side of the street and the west lanes will be closed for construction.
