Biography

The Chicago Tribune has called Yasen Peyankov “inimitable’ as a member of the famed Steppenwolf Theater Company ensemble.

Since 2002, he has been a member of the Steppenwolf Theatre Ensemble, where he has appeared in performaces such as a Broadway run of Tracy Letts’ “Superior Donuts” and a Dublin run of “Frankie and Johnny in the Clare de Lune.” Peyankov often brings Steppenwolf professionals to speak or teach at UIC.

He received a Joseph Jefferson Award, Chicago’s counterpart to the Tony, for his work in “Morning Star,” and was nominated for a Jefferson for his translation of Chekhov’s “Ivanov.”

Peyankov has also appeared in films such as “Captive State,” “A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas,” “Contagion,” “Transformers 3,” and other. He also has appeared in many television shows, including “Stranger Things,” “FBI,” “Chicago PD,” “Madam Secretary,” and others.
