Chicago Employers Seek to Hire Vets, Spouses Thursday at UIC

WHAT:
The University of Illinois at Chicago and the 100,000 Jobs Mission host a major hiring event for U.S. military veterans, transitioning servicemembers, and military spouses.

More than 40 participating top employers seek to fill jobs, from entry-level to managerial, in the Chicago area and nationwide.

DETAILS:
Job-seekers can register and upload their resumes prior to the event so that participating companies can review them and schedule interviews for that day. In some cases, candidates may be offered a job on the spot. Many of the recruiting teams are comprised of veterans.

Participating employers include 7-Eleven, Abbott, ACADEMI, AON, AT&T, Avis Budget, Bank of America, CA Technologies, Caterpillar, CBS-2 Chicago, CDW, Century 21 Real Estate, Cisco, CITI, Cushman & Wakefield, Delta Air Lines, EMC, Enterprise Holdings, FBI, Frontier Communications, HCSC (Blue Cross Blue Shield), Humana, Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, JPMorgan Chase, Kraft Foods, Lockheed Martin, ManTech International, McDonalds, McTigue Financial Group, Modis, Nielsen, Northern Trust, Northwest Mutual Financial, Pitney Bowes, Schneider National, Sears, Securitas Security Services USA, TAMKO, Target, UnitedHealth Group, University of Chicago Medical Center, Verizon and Walgreens.

In addition to the 100,000 Jobs Mission and UIC, event cosponsors include Joining Forces, the Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs, Illinois Department of Employment Security, The American Legion, Illinois Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, Student Veterans of America, U.S. Department of Labor – VETS, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Launched in 2011, the 100,000 Jobs Mission is a coalition of 53 companies committed to hiring at least 100,000 U.S. military veterans by 2020.
