White Sox outing
Cheer on the White Sox with fellow UIC students, employees and alumni at the UIC Alumni/UIC Appreciation outing Aug. 28.
Participants receive a special UIC/White Sox hat and discount tickets for the White Sox vs. Mariners game, 7:10 p.m. at U.S. Cellular Field.
Groups of 20 can display a special message on the digital scoreboard.
Future black scholars
Deadline is July 20 to apply for a College of Education tuition-free summer program for black male high school seniors who want to earn a doctorate in education and teach future educators.
The “Next Generation of African American Male Educators, Specifically Professors” takes place Monday through Friday, July 20 to 31, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the UIC Reading Clinic in the Education, Theatre, Music and Social Work Building.
Fifteen selected students will participate in digital filmmaking, scholarly reading, writing and discussion under the guidance of education scholars from around the country.

Mingle and move
Join Applied Health Sciences faculty, staff, students and alumni for a night of mingling and moving at the AHS @ Chicago SummerDance Aug. 14.
The event, 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., features basic East Coast swing dance instruction and live 1920s and 1930s jazz and swing music. Chicago SummerDance is held at the Grant Park Spirit of Music Garden, 601 S. Michigan Ave.
