Celebrate climate commitments
UIC Chancellor Michael Amiridis will join the UIC Office of Sustainability Tuesday in celebrating UIC’s commitment to confronting the challenges of climate change and sustainability.
Amiridis will announce UIC’s Climate Commitments at a reception from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the East Terrace, Student Center East.
The Chancellor’s Committee on Sustainability and Energy has developed four goals — the UIC Climate Commitments — that will establish UIC as a thought leader in sustainability and higher education.
Greek Week
The Center for Student Involvement hosts a week of activities celebrating Greek life on campus, April 7 to 15.
Events include sports tournaments, a trivia bowl, variety show and more.
Greener commuting
A seminar April 21 identifies ways the health care industry could become more green by improving transportation options for staff.
Learn what drives commuting options and more at the final Urban Transportation Center Spring 2016 Seminar Series event, which begins at noon in 110 CUPPA Hall. The presentation will be led by Ning Ai, assistant professor of urban planning and policy.
World Health Day
The Center for Global Health hosts a World Health Day presentation April 6.
“Community and Public Health Approaches to Violence Prevention,” takes place from noon to 2 p.m. in the Molecular Biology Research Building auditorium. Lunch will be served.

All ROTC alumni are invited to a first-ever alumni reception April 21 celebrating 100 years of Army ROTC.

Pyro Paddlers
UIC’s dragon boat team, the Pyro Paddlers, is looking for paddlers to race with the team in summer races.
The Pyro Paddlers is made up of UIC students, alumni, staff and faculty. Paddling experience is not required.
The team is supported by the Asian American Resource and Cultural Center, the Chancellor’s Committee on the Status of Asian Americans, and the Office of Public and Governmental Affairs.
Vacation, sick leave payouts
UIC employees may defer vacation and/or compensable sick leave payouts to their 403(b) and/or 457 retirement accounts upon separation or retirement from the university.
