CULTURAL GROUPS SHOWCASE
UIC students will perform music and dance in the annual “Cultural Showcase” at 7 p.m. Thursday, free in the UIC Forum. Eight groups are scheduled to perform: Asian American Students in Alliance, Chicago Adaa, Downtown Voices, Filipinos in Alliance, Hellenic Students Association, Korean American Student Association, Movimiento Latino and Primo Dance Troupe.
HUNGER AT THE BANQUET
Learn about the unequal distribution of global resources and the issues of poverty and hunger at the Oxfam America Hunger Banquet. The event will be held Nov. 19, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in 302 Student Center East. The hunger banquet is presented by the Student Activities Board. The event is free, but space is limited and a valid i-card is required.
TRANSPORTATION AND THE SUPPLY CHAIN
The importance of transportation in the global economy is the subject of “Supply Chain Trends and Challenges,” a seminar at noon Nov. 19 in 110 CUPPA Hall.
Speaking will be John Caltagirone, founding director of the Supply and Value Chain Center, Quinlan School of Business at Loyola University Chicago.
HELP FILL THE PANTRY
Donations are being collected through Friday for the UIC Pop-Up Pantry, a food pantry for students.
The pantry accepts nonperishable, unopened, undamaged and nonexpired items. Especially needed: canned vegetables, beans, tuna and soup; cereal, rice, pasta, instant meals in a cup, macaroni and cheese, granola and protein bars, powdered milk, instant coffee and tea, peanut butter and oatmeal. Personal care items, including toothpaste, deodorant and soap are also needed. Items should be within two weeks of the “best by” date. Glass containers are not accepted.
Collection boxes are in 1728 University Hall, 105 College of Dentistry, first floor of the Disability, Health and Social Policy building and first floor, School of Public Health.
