UIC CHANCE collects 200 toys for the holidays

The University of Illinois at Chicago’s CHANCE program hosted a holiday toy drive that collected nearly 200 toys to support local nonprofit organizations during the holiday season.
CHANCE, which stands for Counseling Help and Assistance Necessary for a 21st century College Education, was formed in 2004 to help UIC reach students from underrepresented populations and provide them with support through counseling and workshops.
This holiday season, the UIC CHANCE program partnered with the Boys and Girls Club Union League located in the Pilsen neighborhood and the James R. Jordan Boys and Girls Club to provide presents and program support to hundreds of youth across the city.
The holiday toy drive was just one part of UIC CHANCE’s giving this season.
The team and its scholars also hosted a holiday dinner for students on UIC’s campus, and assisted the Mission of Our Lady of Angels Church in providing a holiday lunch to senior citizens and other members of the community.
CHANCE has awarded more than $250,000 in student support and scholarships in 2018 and looks to celebrate its 15th year anniversary in 2019.
