UI Health has reached a tentative three-year agreement with the Illinois Nurses Association, averting a possible strike scheduled for Tuesday morning.

Details of the agreement will be shared with the nursing membership at ratification voting meetings to be conducted by the union. The INA represents more than 1,100 nurses at UI Health.

After meeting 19 times during the past few months, including several times with a federal mediator, UI Health and the INA reached an agreement Monday evening.

“We are pleased that the INA has agreed not to pursue a one-day strike as we work together with our nurses to ensure our patients’ continued care and safety,” said Avijit Ghosh, CEO of the University of Illinois Hospital & Clinics.

The new agreement requires approval by the University of Illinois Board of Trustees.
