Time to vote
As adults and, most importantly, as residents of the greatest city in America, we should be responsible and get out this month and vote. As you have been hearing on the news, the race for Mayor of Chicago is happening now! I always know it’s time to vote when I see the giant campaign signs outside of homes around the city. We have the choice of five declared candidates incumbent Mayor Rahm Emanuel, city commissioner Jesus “Chuy” Garcia, Ald. Robert Fioretti, political activist William “Dock” Walls, and Willie Wilson, a medical supply company executive. Personally, I am surprised by the fact that all candidates are Democrats but their plans and methods for our city are different.
Early voting started Feb. 9 and runs through Feb. 21. There are over 50 locations to choose from and I am sure there is one near your home because every Ward in the city has a separate location. All locations are open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Election Day is Feb. 24. Make sure you are registered to vote!
