That’s more like it
After many weeks of snow and ice covered sidewalks and dramatic cold weather, we are finally getting some of that nice weather that we’ve been anticipating. I knew that winter was going to drag after that groundhog saw his shadow. Well, I think it’s safe to say that spring is finally here. Although this is Chicago, so you never know what to expect.
If you didn’t know, February was tied for the coldest month of February since 1875. When I came to school on one especially wintery day, transportation was a mess and it took me two-and-a-half hours to get to school when normally my travel time is no longer than an hour and 15 minutes. I am definitely ready to put this winter in the past. I usually like the winter; I was born during the winter months, but this winter made me second-guess that opinion.
I was watching the news the other night and saw some highs of 40s and 50s on the seven-day forecast and the lows weren’t bad either; they were in the 30s, which is a whole lot better than the subzero wind chills we were experiencing. It would feel even worse when you’re on campus walking around University Hall in that open field; you understand the true meaning of why we are nicknamed the Windy City.
I’m also looking forward to spring break and I know that you would agree with me. It starts after classes on Friday, March 20th and we are back on Monday, March 30th. I know we got a couple more weeks and a few more exams until then but it feels good to look forward to something.
