Brazile, who became the first African-American woman to manage a presidential campaign when she served as campaign manager for former vice president Al Gore, worked on every presidential campaign from 1976 through 2000. Former interim national chair of the Democratic National Committee and former chair of the DNC’s Voting Rights Institute, she is now DNC’s vice chair of voter registration and participation.
Brazille is a syndicated newspaper columnist for Universal Uclick; a columnist for Ms. Magazine and O, the Oprah Magazine; an on-air contributor for CNN; and for ABC, where she regularly appears on “This Week with George Stephanopoulos.” She is an adjunct professor at Georgetown University.
Brazile has been named to the Washingtonian Magazine’s 100 most powerful women, O Magazine’s top 20 remarkable visionaries, and Essence Magazine’s top 50 women in America. She is a recipient of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s highest award for political achievement. Her best-selling memoir is “Cooking with Grease: Stirring the Pots in American Politics.”
