Nunn scores career high versus Wright State

A career night by redshirt junior Kendyl Nunn was not enough Saturday as UIC dropped an 80-72 decision to Wright State at the UIC Pavilion. Nunn scored 34 points on 9-of-15 shooting from three-point territory in the game.

The Flames started cold, shooting 21.4 percent in the first period as Wright State used an 11-0 run to build an early lead. The Raiders extended that lead to double figures early into the second period before the Flames caught fire. Wright State answered to take a 32-30 halftime advantage.

The second half belonged to Nunn as she scored 22 of UIC’s 42 points. UIC got to within a basket at 66-64 with 4:54 remaining but Wright State was tough down the stretch and pulled away.

“Kendyl played an outstanding game,” head coach Regina Miller said. “She hit some big shots for us.”

Nunn set the school record for the most three point field goals made (nine).

UIC heads to Michigan this week for a 10 a.m. match Thursday at Detroit and an 11 a.m. game Saturday at Oakland.
