A panel of scholars from the University of Illinois at Chicago will talk about their latest books during a faculty book presentation and celebration hosted by the UIC Latin American and Latino studies program.

Xóchitl Bada, associate professor of Latin American and Latino studies, “Mexican Migrant Hometown Associations in Chicagoacán: From Local to Transnational Civic Engagement”
Chris Boyer, professor of Latin American and Latino studies and professor and head of history, “Political Landscapes: Forests, Communities, and Conservation in Mexico”
Joel Palka, professor of Latin American and Latino studies and anthropology, “Maya Pilgrimage to Ritual Landscapes: Insights to Archaeology, History and Ethnography”
Amalia Pallares, professor of political science and Latin American and Latino studies and director of the Latin American and Latino studies program, “Family Activism: Immigrant Struggles and the Politics of Non-Citizenship”
María de los Angeles Torres, UIC professor of Latin American and Latino studies and executive director of the Inter-University Program for Latino Research, “Global Cities and Immigrants: A Comparative Study of Chicago and Madrid”
The event is presented in collaboration with the UIC Library and UIC Bookstore.
