I am UIC: UIC celebrates Black History Month

Various campus groups at the University of Illinois at Chicago have created a variety of events in the month of February for the celebration of Black History. The month of February is popularly known to be the remembrance of African American history in the United States. This societal celebration honors Blacks’ culture, heritage, history and social activists.

Starting Feb. 1, UIC organizations will commence events that will celebrate the dynamic history and culture of African Americans in the United States. These events will also create an avenue for students to network with their peers, faculty, staff and alumni.

I am personally looking forward to attending these events, and encourage the UIC community to attend. Their presence at these events will not only show support to the different students’ organizations but will also emphasize that UIC honors the history of African Americans.
