I am UIC: Involvement Fair presents opportunities for students

On Sept. 5, UIC held its annual Involvement Fair — an event that occurs at the beginning of every semester to help students become more aware of the diverse clubs and organization on campus.

Student representatives from campus organizations were present and ready to persuade students to become active members, and off-campus community organizations were also present. UIC establishes fun, creative, social and educational organizations for its students. The focus of student organizations can vary, including religion, art, business, feminism, politics, sports, and more.

Dureti Godana, a junior and treasurer of the African Student Council (ASC), believes that the Involvement Fair has become an essential technique to recruit students to campus groups.

“The Involvement Fair really brings life to the culture of UIC, enabling these organizations showcase their benefits,” Godana said. She further emphasized that as the semester continues, students often become too busy with homework to search for a student organization to join, so the Involvement Fair is a great opportunity for students to become informed about the diverse student organization, as well as an avenue for organizations to recruit members.

Temitope Eddna Odedoyin is majoring in English and fully concentrating in media and professional writing. Apart from writing, she has have a passion for painting, and enjoys using watercolors, oil paint, acrylic, charcoal, oil pastel. She also has an interest in creative writing and short stories. She believes that art — through writing and painting — is a way of expressing one’s feelings.
