Harrison Street Bridge closes to cross-traffic Monday
As part of the multi-year Circle Interchange Project, the Harrison Street Bridge over the Dan Ryan Expressway between Desplaines Street and Halsted Street — originally scheduled to close to cross-traffic Feb. 3 — is now set to close March 3.
The CTA will reroute the No. 7 Harrison and No. 60 Blue Island/26th bus routes. The No. 8 Halsted bus will not be rerouted, but some stops will change.
The new temporary westbound bus routings will be via Clinton-Taylor-Halsted-Harrison streets, then via the regular routes. Temporary eastbound routing will be via Harrison-Halsted-Jackson streets.
The temporary bus stop changes are:
• southbound Halsted – the CTA Blue Line station stop will be relocated to Van Buren Street. The Harrison Street stop will move about 150 feet to the south.
• northbound Halsted – the Harrison Street stop will be temporarily removed. Board at Polk or Van Buren streets.
• eastbound Harrison – the Halsted stop will be temporarily removed. Board at 900 W. Harrison St.
• westbound Harrison – the Halsted stop will move 150 feet west.
The route and stop changes are expected to be in place until at least September.
On March 10, the Halsted Street Bridge over the Eisenhower Expressway between Harrison and Van Buren streets is scheduled to narrow to one lane of traffic in each direction. The Harrison/Halsted intersection will remain open.
Pace bus No. 755 will revise its schedule in the UIC area. For more information, visit http://www.pacebus.com/sub/schedules/route_notice_detail.asp?Notice_ID=4148
