Garry Wills to talk at UIC Nov. 18

The University of Illinois at Chicago department of political science presents “America and Islam,” a talk by Garry Wills, Pulitzer Prize-winning author and historian.

Garry Wills, an emeritus professor at Northwestern University, has established himself over five decades as one of America’s leading public intellectuals on politics, religion and culture.

He is the author of nearly 50 books, including the 1993 book “Lincoln at Gettysburg: The Words that Remade America,” which won the Pulitzer Prize for general non-fiction. A two-time winner of the National Book Critics Circle Award, Wills was awarded the National Medal for the Humanities in 1998.

His talk at UIC, “America and Islam,” will consider whether Christians and Muslims are destined for a holy war. It is presented as part of the UIC department of political science 2015 fall speaker series.
