Finals are here
We have been talking about this for weeks, and now it’s finally here. The biggest exam of the semester. This test can be the difference between two grades. It can determine if you pass or fail the course. So you may be feeling a little anxiety, which is natural. But here are some things that I suggest you do to put yourself in the best position to pass this test.
- Study your notes. All semester, we have been coming to class, listening to the professor’s lecture and taking notes. Your notes should have all the topics that were discussed over the course of the semester. Now, all you need to know is whether the Finals will cover the entire semester or just until the second exam; my experiences have taught me that the finals cover the entire semester.
- Get a good night’s rest. The worst thing you can do on the day of finals is staying up all night trying to study for the test. If you haven’t figured it out by that night, you probably won’t figure it out; and you just may crash doing the test. So just study as much as you can now, and give yourself a full eight hours of sleep.
- Eat a healthy breakfast. If your finals are in the morning, then a good breakfast will help you focus during the test. You should drink some orange juice, eat some fruit or a granola bar. If you have time, make some eggs and toast, eat some cereal, or make a cup of coffee. For those of us who have finals later in the day, don’t eat too heavy. You want all your energy.
Matthew Maggit is a sophomore in accounting in the College of Business Administration. Matthew decided to come to UIC because of the business program’s reputation and because he wanted to study at a campus with a diverse atmosphere. He likes how close the campus is to downtown Chicago and the Willis Tower. In his free time, he loves to surround myself with loved ones, and he enjoys sports and going to the gym.
