Tamar Heller
Distinguished Professor and Department Head, Disability and Human Development
Biography
Tamar Heller studies transitions faced by individuals with a disability and their families over their lifespan.
She oversees a comprehensive research program focusing on health and wellness, later-life family caregiving, and public policy aimed at improving the life of adults with developmental disabilities as they age.
She is director of UIC’s University Center of Excellence in Developmental Disabilities for the State of Illinois and directs the Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on Aging with Developmental Disabilities.
Among her projects is the Special Olympics Research Collaborating Center.
