Nicole Nguyen is an expert on the study of U.S. government surveillance, anti-Muslim racism and the effects of the global war on terror on society. Her three books — “A Curriculum of Fear,” “Suspect Communities” and “Terrorism on Trial” — examine how policies intended to fight terrorism and extremism have contributed to the militarization of schools, the expansion of the security state and the weaponization of courts as counterterrorism tools.

Nguyen collaborates directly with community organizations and teachers to stop anti-Muslim racism in schools. She was named a Soros Justice Fellow in 2022.
