Marc Atkins is an emeritus professor of psychiatry and psychology at the University of Illinois Chicago. He has a long-standing interest in the development of effective mental health services for children and families living in high-poverty urban communities. He is an active researcher in childhood ADHD and aggression and community mental health services for children and families.
His collaborative work with local social service agencies has led to the development of several programs in Chicago-area schools that identify children at risk for academic failure due to behavioral issues and provide family- and school-based mental health support services.
