Biography
Besma Smida is an associate professor of electrical and computer engineering at the University of Illinois Chicago. Her research focuses on wireless communication networks: 5G/6G and the Internet of Things.
Responding to the unparalleled growth in wireless devices and traffic, she focuses on providing spectrum-efficient wireless communications with a special emphasis on reliability and latency. Her approach is to seek out and solve fundamental problems related to radio-frequency physics, statistical signal processing, communication theoretic and networking angles.
