Program Description
This program will provide students with an opportunity to participate in the vibrant independent publishing scene in Mexico City. Students will observe first hand, through a series of visits to different publishing studios, the physical spaces and social contexts in which the craft and enterprise of independent publishing takes place in Mexico City. In the course of these visits, students will learn about the range of aesthetic and editorial directions of Mexican art publishing, as well as its economic dimension: how publications are collectively produced and distributed through co-operative networks.
Courses
Students will take Independent Publishing in Mexico course (6 credit hours) taught by UIC Professor Jack Henrie Fisher.
