Award ceremony for Illinois Student Veteran Leader of the Year

UIC’s Office of Student Veterans Affairs is excited to announce that Michael Jacobson, a doctoral student in the College of Engineering, was selected by Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs as the 2023-24 Illinois Student Veteran Leader of the Year. This award recognizes Jacobson, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, for his research and development in the field of robotic prosthetics, volunteer work with the organization Breaking the Chains to rescue animals displaced by the war in Ukraine, his commitment to support and mentor fellow students and his contributions as a resource for UIC’s Office of Student Veterans Affairs.
