In May 2013, Britain’s The Guardian newspaper published a series of articles about wide-reaching government espionage activity based upon the revelations of former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden. The articles offered significant evidence that the NSA, the CIA, and other U.S. counter-terrorism organizations have been conducting wide-reaching surveillance campaigns on foreign governments and private citizens.
