“No Place to Grow” follows a group of Latinx farmers facing gentrification in Santa Cruz, California. Post-film discussion facilitated by the UIC Heritage Garden and the Little Village Environmental Justice Organization.

Join us for a flower arrangement workshop led by Lucy Angel Camarena. Through this workshop participants will explore concepts of community, well-being and mutual aid. *Supplies provided while they last.

We invite gardeners, organizations and community members interested in learning more about gardening, environmental sustainability and social justice. Participants do not need to bring seeds to attend.

Radical Research from BIPOC Scholars at UIC

Ignacio Escalante Meza from the department of biological sciences will discuss previous research on the behavioral ecology of daddy long-legs from Costa Rica and ongoing projects to study these arachnids in Chicago and Cook County.

Practice artmaking in this open art studio! Engage with creative ways to grow, resist and reimagine climate and environmental justice. Support local environmental justice organizations and bring your own shirt/bag to print on.

Participate in an UIC LCC research study where we will be creating personal maps and writing stories on how Latinx Chicagoans are affected by climate change and other environmental injustices. Leading the art studio will be our featured teaching artist: José Rosa

Noche de Poetas: Roots of a Revolution

Join Mexican Students de Aztlán (MeSA), Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), Union for Puerto Rican Students (UPRS), and Native American and Indigenous Student Organization (NAISO) this Spring 2023 Semester for an open mic! Leading the night will be our featured poet: Luz Magdaleno Flores.
