Join us for lunch, networking, and learning as Beth Harper presents and discusses career
development in clinical research. A classic, family style Italian lunch will be served.
Program Description: During the Fall 2018 Chapter Event, The Pathway to Competency and Career
Development, ACRP’s Workforce Innovation Officer, Beth Harper, led a discussion on the theory and
practice of clinical research competencies. In this follow-up session she will expand the
discussion to several key areas that can be directly applied for individual competency development
and career progression as well as for attendees who are in the position of hiring, managing and
retaining staff. This interactive workshop will provide hands-on practice with various competency
and career planning tools along with plenty of time for networking and best practice sharing.
Upon completion of this lecture, attendees should be able to:
1. Identify their own competency gaps and develop a plan for achieving greater competence in
priority areas
2. Discuss methods for validating competency
3. List several techniques for competency-based approaches to the hiring of new staff, and the
management of existing staff to promote career advancement and reduce turnover
4. Describe several career path options and how to create a personalized career progression plan
