Join I2SL Windy City Chapter for an evening exploring the state-of-the-art in lab sustainability. Innovators in architecture, lab design and engineering will present outstanding lab designs and technologies that are changing the way labs work. The event will inspire students to consider working in this exciting and fast-evolving field.
Gensler, a top international architecture firm known for innovation, presents recent laboratory design projects that showcase new ideas for usability and sustainability.
Gensler maintained the highest position on Architectural Record’s 2018 Top 300 Architecture Firms and the top ranking on Interior Design’s Top 100 Giants 2018. Gensler also ranked as the no. 1 architecture firm on Building Design + Construction‘s 2018 Giants 300.
Ralph T. Muehleisen, Principal Building Scientist, Argonne National Laboratory, will present design ideas and technologies that are on the horizon for sustainability. His research focuses on increasing the efficiency and resiliency of built environments, and his projects involve urban science and engineering, reduced order and stochastic building energy modeling, understanding uncertainty and risk in building models, and the integration of smart buildings and smart grids.
The author of over 180 publications and presentations, Muehleisen serves on the board of directors at IBPSA-USA and as co-chair of the Urban Scale Simulation subcommittee of the organization’s Research Committee. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering at the Illinois Institute of Technology.
