The Global Middle East Studies Minor and the Middle East and Muslim Societies Cluster at UIC invite you to: “Arab and Muslim DEI on College Campuses: Repairing the Ruptures.”

In this talk, Evelyn Alsultany, PhD, will review examples of DEl initiatives that have created more inclusive campuses for Middle East and North Afridan and Muslim students. She will also review how such initiatives may fail when it comes to the politics of Israel and Palestine on college campuses. She will consider questions like: How can university administrators create and maintain inclusive campus environments through politicized crises?

Alsultany is professor of American Studies and Ethnicity at the University of Southern California’s Dornsife College and the author of “Broken: The Failed Promise of Muslim Inclusion.”
