UIC celebrates the 30th anniversary of its endowed chair in Lithuanian studies with a reception and talk by Leonidas Donskis, a Lithuanian philosopher, political theorist and member of European Parliament.
In 1984, an endowed chair in Lithuanian studies became the first externally funded chair at UIC.
In honor of the anniversary, the Office of the Chancellor, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and its School of Literatures, Cultural Studies and Linguistics will host an event to thank the Lithuanian community and contributors to the endowment for their support and partnership.
The event is free and open to the public. RSVPs are required by Feb. 26. For more information or to RSVP, contact Heather Cohen at cohenh@uic.edu or (312) 413-4927.
Event co-sponsors from UIC are the Office of International Affairs, the Office of Public and Government Affairs, the department of Slavic and Baltic languages and literatures, the UIC Fund for Polish-Jewish studies, the Sandi Port Errant Language and Culture Learning Center, and the Institute for the Humanities.
