Campus News: Happy birthday, Jane Addams
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JANE ADDAMS
Jane Addams Hull-House Museum will mark her birthday Thursday with presentations on justice and prison reform, 5 to 8 p.m. in the museum at 800 S. Halsted St.
Activities include a talk by Mariame Kaba, director of Project NIA, on “Punishing Girls: the Rise of Girls in the Juvenile Justice System,” spoken word performances by Young Chicago Authors, an art talk by 96 Acres, a community-based art series named for the size of the Cook County Jail, and cupcakes for all.
DIVERSITY CAREER FAIR
All UIC students and alumni are eligible to attend the free Diversity Career Fair Sept. 23, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., in the UIC Forum. At least 100 employers will be recruiting for full-time and part-time jobs and internships.

POLITICAL LOGJAMS
Political science and budget experts will discuss “Addressing Illinois’ Fiscal Problems and Political Logjam” Oct. 1 at the fall forum of the UIC chapter of the State Universities Annuitants Association.
Ralph Martire, executive director of the Center for Tax and Budget Accountability, Bill Barclay, adjunct professor of the Liautaud Graduate School of Business, and Dick Simpson, professor of political science, will speak at the free event, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in 302 Student Center East.
