Chancellor search
UIC students and employees can share their thoughts Friday on the qualifications and attributes they would like to see in the next UIC chancellor.
University President Robert Easter and representatives from Parker Executive Search will host two forums, from 11 a.m. to noon in 302 Student Center East and 3 to 4 p.m. in Thompson Room A, Student Center West.
Discussion topics will include objectives for the new chancellor, as well as experience and personal attributes of an ideal candidate.

More time to study
The Daley Library and Library of the Health Sciences will extend their hours for the end of spring semester and finals week.
The Daley Library will be open continuously from through 7 p.m. May 9. Students must show their i-card to enter the building from 9 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
The Library of the Health sciences will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. Sunday, 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to midnight Friday and 9 a.m. to midnight Saturday. The extended schedule runs through 5 p.m. May 9.
Benefits Choice starts May 1
UIC employees can make changes to health and life insurance coverage during Benefit Choice enrollment May 1 through June 2.
Next year’s coverage includes changes in health plan co-payments, deductibles, co-insurance and out-of-pocket maximums; prescription and dental plan deductibles; and vision co-payments and the replacement schedule for lenses and contacts. The changes, which take effect July 1, must be made online at the NESSIE human resources website.
During Benefit Choice period employees can also enroll in Flexible Spending Accounts and change dependent coverage. Employees who are not changing coverage do not need to re-enroll.

Woman of the Year
Nominations will be accepted through July 1 for UIC’s Woman of the Year Award.
The award is sponsored by the Chancellor’s Committee on the Status of Women. Nominations should include a CV or résumé and at least three supporting letters describing the nominee’s service to UIC women as part of her job. Send nominations by email to ccswmail@uic.edu

What’s the latest WoRD?
The WoRD (Women’s Reading and Discussion) book club meets July 23 to discuss its latest selection The Wisdom of Whores: Bureaucrats, Brothels, and the Business of AIDS, by Elizabeth Pisani.
The group, which is open to all employees and students, will meet from noon to 1 p.m. in 507 Disability, Health and Social Policy building, 1640 W. Roosevelt Road.
The book is available for purchase at a 20 percent discount at the UIC Bookstores or for check-out from the UIC Library.

The campus community is invited to town hall meetings with the four finalists for director of the Asian American Resource and Cultural Center. Each finalist will present his or her vision for the center and take questions at the meetings.

Innovation at UIC
Celebrate UIC’s Innovator and Inventor of the Year at a reception today. The cocktail reception and networking event begins at 5 p.m. in the East Terrace, Student Center East. The event will also celebrate the launching of a new initiative, Innovate@UIC, sponsored by the Office of Technology Management.
