New location, lineup announced for Spark in the Park
Spark in the Park, UIC’s annual private concert for students, faculty and staff, moves indoors this year, featuring rapper J. Cole as headliner with special guest Bas at the Sept. 4 event.
Because of construction for the Circle Interchange project around Harrison Field, the venue for past years, Spark will be held in the UIC Pavilion.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the show scheduled from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. A valid i-card is required for entry; no tickets will be sold.
Cole, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, earned success and a Grammy nomination after the release of his first album, “Cole World: The Sideline Story.” His second LP, “Born Sinner,” features the hit singles “Power Trip” and “Crooked Smile.”
Bas, from Queens, New York, released his first studio album, “Last Winter,” April 29 on Cole’s Dreamville Records.
Spark in the Park is sponsored by Campus Programs in collaboration with the UIC Pavilion and UIC Radio.
