Guillermo Duarte, Senior Public Relations Strategist for Strategic Marketing and Communications

Guillermo Duarte is the senior public relations strategist on the University Communications team. Guillermo maintains partnerships and media relations with local, national, and global media outlets to cover featured UIC stories and thought leadership opportunities.

Guillermo joined UIC in 2018 as the communications manager for the School of Theatre and Music, where he led marketing and outreach for the school’s academic and public programs. Before joining UIC, Guillermo pioneered a communications department for Cicero School District 99, leading a rebrand and implementation of new communication tools for 16 schools.

Guillermo has a master’s in strategic brand communication from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign and a bachelor’s in communications and Spanish from the University of Illinois Chicago.
