Get registered and vote!

Vote buttonThe state of Illinois has to make some important decisions. We must decide the future of Illinois. We have two candidates running for governor, two candidates running for senator and we have two totally different agendas about how they will take care of issues that we face as a state. So it’s important that we understand what needs to be done and which candidates will get it done. The debates that occurred last week were a good way to understand both parties. Candidates standing together, giving their vision and answering questions regarding our state is must-watch television.

You have to register to vote. There are many locations around the city, so find one near you. Get your voter registration card. Early voting runs through Nov. 2. Nov. 3 is the grace period for voter registration but get it done early and save the hassle. November 4 is Election Day and that will be here before you know it.

You have no excuse for not voting, except if you are not old enough. The age excuse doesn’t apply to UIC students. Our votes count and when enough people vote, we choose who we want to run the state of Illinois. It all starts with understanding the issues we face.
