Biography

Jason Polakis is an associate professor of computer science in the UIC College of Engineering. His research focuses on issues of security and privacy in the web and mobile ecosystem, and emerging technologies.
In particular, he is interested in gaining a deeper understanding of the security limitations of web browsers, web and mobile applications, and the privacy threats faced by users of these platforms. He also works on designing countermeasures that services can adopt to create more robust functionality and build effective security and privacy protections. Polakis also looks at vulnerabilities in authentication mechanisms and bot-prevention mechanisms.
