Daria Tsoupikova

Biography
Daria Tsoupikova is a professor in the School of Design, co-founder and design chair of the bachelor’s in Computer Science + Design program and research faculty in the UIC Electronic Visualization Laboratory.
Tsoupikova is a second-wave virtual reality researcher and has been creating VR design applications and networked tele-immersive multiuser real-time exhibitions for VR projection systems, such as Cave Automatic Virtual Environment (CAVE and CAVE2), for over 20 years. Recent research projects explore how creative solutions can augment virtual rehabilitation for stroke survivors, cultural heritage, interdisciplinary science, education and advance social change. Her work with the Arms + Hands Lab at the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab involves developing generations of multiuser virtual environments to aid stroke survivors in hand rehabilitation.
