Dr. Christopher Holden is an assistant professor of clinical psychiatry in the UIC College of Medicine and director of addiction psychiatry at UI Health. He treats a variety of psychiatric conditions, and he specializes in the treatment of patients with co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders.

He was integral in creating UIC’s Addiction Medicine Fellowship, which launched in 2021 and for which he serves as program director.  He also created and oversees the Recovery Clinic, an outpatient clinic in the department of psychiatry that serves patients with substance use issues.

Holden believes that patients are most likely to recover from psychiatric and addictive disorders if they are addressed simultaneously, in particular with multiple complementary approaches, which can include medication and psychotherapy.
