Dr. Adhir Shroff is a professor of medicine, clinical chief of cardiology and director of the interventional cardiology fellowship program in the College of Medicine.
He has helped to pioneer a safer method to perform heart catheterizations by using the radial artery in the wrist. Patients experience less pain, recover more quickly and have less complications with this method. Shroff has trained hundreds of physicians on radial catheterizations, and physicians at UI Health perform more than 90% of cardiac catheterizations using this technique, well above the national average.
Shroff is a core member of the structural heart disease team at UI Health and an expert on diagnosing and treating arterial blockages in patients’ hearts and legs. He also has an interest in the economics of health care and developing value-based care programs and pathways.
He chairs the Education Committee and the Academic Leaders Committee for the American College of Cardiology.
