Women, Mental Health and The Justice System: A Community Dialogue

Mental health issues present challenges for women at every stage of the criminal justice process, from arrest to incarceration to community reentry and reintegration. In this dialogue, we seek to identify gaps in services, best practices, and the social and policy changes that are needed to optimize women’s ability to remain safe, healthy, and productive members of their communities. The goal is to develop recommendations for new policy and any necessary improvements to existing policy to support the social and emotional needs of women re-entering the community.

Our panel of subject matter experts, including policymakers, practitioners and scholars, will explore these issues, and our guest speakers Illinois Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton and Ms. Kemba Smith will use their expertise and experiences to shape the discussion and provide guidance for next steps.

This event will be held online via Zoom.
