Disability Cultural Center 2024 community forum

Date / Time

May 16, 2024

3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

UIC’s Disability Cultural Center is hosting a 2024 community forum, in person and online, to share information about the center and get feedback.

We’d love your input! We will start with a review of what we’ve been up to this year, then open the conversation to what you would like to happen at the center.

“Nothing about us without us” is a core disability cultural value, and we want to create a space for feedback about programming and the communities we are caring for. We want to make opportunities for people to shape the community we are building. We are excited to learn what people think about the Disability Cultural Center, what kinds of events we should have, what changes we might make and anything else you want to share with us.

Registration is required to access the Zoom link for the online meeting. Register for the Zoom link.

The in-person forum will take place in the Behavioral Sciences Building, room 231. Registration isn’t required to attend the in-person forum.

For those who can’t make it, we will have forms soon for you to provide feedback about the center.

COVID-19 safety: UIC does not require masking, but we are still masking in our spaces as an accessibility measure for chronically ill / immunocompromised people and those living with them. Please wear a mask. We’ll have extras on hand. People may be sipping/eating and then replacing their masks. Zoom is another Covid-cautious option.

Access Information: ASL and live CART captions will be provided. The center is located on the second floor, which is accessible by elevator. We use fragrance-free products in the center, but UIC is not a fragrance-free campus. To maintain a low-fragrance environment, please refrain from wearing scents to our events. Let us know about any other access requests at dcc@uic.edu or 312-355-7050.
