Students heading back to college are preparing for an entirely different experience — and their respective institutions face a similar reckoning about their broader role. The Chicago Humanities Festival brings together leaders from Kennedy-King College, Lake Forest College, and the University of Illinois at Chicago to discuss how they can serve as good neighbors when current crises require academic institutions to show up differently in their communities. Following recent shifts and disruptions in regular operations on and around campuses, this program looks at the untapped potential and unforeseen limitations of brick and mortar institutions in a time of virtual learning and increased need for localized resource sharing. CHF’s Marilynn Thoma Artistic Director Alison Cuddy moderates this program.
