‘Black Males Have Emotions Too! Let’s Talk About It’

Moderated by NBC 5’s Christian Farr, four Black men with relevant educational backgrounds and lived experiences will talk openly about black men’s mental health — a topic that many consider taboo. Black men often hold common misconceptions: that depression is normal, that talking about feelings is a sign of weakness, or that seeking help is sharing vulnerabilities with a stranger. But health care disparities, racism, and lack of access to the right kinds of resources means that Black men are 20% more likely to have serious psychological distress than their white counterparts.

Our panelists, including Dr. Obari Cartman, Rev. Dr. Otis Moss III, Dr. Brian Humphrey, and King Moosa, will help dispel these myths and demystify the stigma associated with mental health.
