Jered Carr

Jered B. Carr, new head of public administration in the College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs.

Appointments

Jered B. Carr was named head of the department of public administration in the College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs. Before joining UIC, he taught for three years at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where he directed the L.P. Cookingham Institute for Urban Affairs.

Carr previously directed the master’s program in public administration at Wayne State University and taught public administration and environmental studies at the College of Charleston.

He was a policy analyst for the Florida Legislature and a research analyst for the Center for International Public Management.

Carr is co-editor of the Urban Affairs Review. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Florida Atlantic University and a Ph.D. from Florida State University.

 

Sid Bhattacharyya, associate professor of information and decision sciences in the College of Business Administration, joined the editorial board of Decision Support System.

 

Teresa Cordova, director of the Great Cities Institute in the College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs, was elected to the board of directors of Chicago Access Network Television.

Alexander Eisenschmidt and Jonathan Mekinda put together “Chicagoisms,” now at the Art Institute of Chicago’s modern wing.

Kevin Brennan, clinical assistant professor of biomedical visualization in the College of Applied Health Sciences, was appointed co-editor of the Journal of Biomedical Communication.

 

Susan Magasi, assistant professor of occupational therapy in the College of Applied Health Sciences, was named U.S. representative to the International Advisory Group of the World Federation of Occupational Therapists. The group will focus on the application of the World Health Organization’s International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health in the practice of occupational therapy.

 

Exhibitions

Alexander Eisenschmidt and Jonathan Mekinda, assistant professors of architecture in the College of Architecture, Design and the Arts, put together “Chicagoisms,” an exhibition in the Modern Wing of the Art Institute of Chicago. Like their accompanying book, Chicagoisms: The City as Catalyst for Architectural Speculation, it includes essays by architects around the world on the impact of the Auditorium Building, Marina City, Circle Interchange and other structures.
