Biography

Jenna Kurtzweil, Associate Director of Research and Science Communications, Storytelling and Content Strategy
Jenna Kurtzweil is associate director of research and science communication on the Storytelling and Content Strategy team, where she uses creative storytelling to identify, craft and share UIC’s dynamic research portfolio.
Jenna joined UIC in 2025. Previously, she managed news, social media and media outreach at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign’s Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology. Prior to this, she supported communications at UIUC’s Institute for Sustainability, Energy, and Environment. Jenna is a member of the National Association of Science Writers and serves on two NASW committees. She has written for diverse outlets, including Champaign-Urbana’s online magazine Smile Politely and the Public Library of Science
Fun fact: Jenna published a children’s book, “Colors,” in 2018.
