Biography
Dr. VK Gadi is a physician and researcher at UI Health, focused on providing expert care to eliminate breast cancer of all stages. As deputy director of the University of Illinois Cancer Center, Gadi partners with large pharmaceutical companies and smaller biotech companies to develop and conduct clinical trials of new medicines, diagnostic tools and supportive care to improve outcomes for patients with breast and other types of cancers.
His clinical trials are dedicated to developing new agents that offer patients with advanced solid tumors innovative treatment options. These trials prioritize identifying effective doses, treatment schedules and diverse patient populations, with an emphasis on safety and efficacy. Gadi’s laboratory has made critical discoveries in cancer biology, immunology and diagnostics.
Moreover, Gadi has authored several patents that underpin commercialization activities in cancer treatment, cancer diagnostics and stem cell transplantation. As a serial entrepreneur, he has helped move academic-developed technology (therapeutics and diagnostics) to translational impact in the clinic.
Gadi is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, European Society for Medical Oncology, American Association for the Advancement of Science, American Association for Cancer Research, Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group and the Big Ten Cancer Research Consortium.
