Dr. Tomer Kanan is a clinical assistant professor at the UIC Department of Kinesiology and Nutrition. He serves as director of anatomy and physiology, overseeing all anatomy and physiology and cadaver dissection courses.

Kanan is transforming anatomy education by combining traditional and digital learning methodologies to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical application. One of his accomplishments is D.O.C.T.O.R., a free, web-based 3D cadaver app that mirrors his lab’s physical models. D.O.C.T.O.R. offers students an interactive and immersive learning experience both inside and outside the classroom. Tomer is also a noted mentor and winner of the 2024 Silver Circle Award for students’ success at UIC and after graduating.
