Women’s self-defense class with UIC Police Department

This class is completely free. This class is only for women 18 years old or older. Students participating in the class will need to sign a waiver in person before participating. 

Women who are interested in participating can email Sgt. Tawanna Clark directly at tclark9@uic.edu. We are limited to 25 women per class, so please RSVP as soon as you can. The deadline to RSVP for a class is the Friday before the class at 3 p.m.

Future dates: April 26, May 3 and May 17 

Time: 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. (one hour classroom instruction and 90 minutes physical instruction)

Parking: Parking Lot 4, 761 W. Polk St. (metered lot)

Transportation: CTA Halsted No. 8 stops near Halsted/Polk, and the CTA Blue Line stops at UIC/Halsted.

What to bring: UIC i-Card or ID, bottled water, comfortable workout clothing, closed-toe gym shoe, long-sleeved sweater (for one portion of the class)

What do to when arriving: Check in with your UIC i-Card at the front desk. If you do not have an i-Card, check in with your state ID at the desk to your left. They will have a roster with confirmed attendees. After checking in, go to the second floor using the elevator. We will be in room 224.
